Hildécio, 15

My name is Hildécio Silva. I am 15 years old. I'm in the 8th grade. I live ind Pau Miúdo. I do not like to live there because there are fights and violence. In my free time I like to learn something new, such as theater, dance, drawing and poetry. I would like to be a biologist in the future.

  1. I find it interesting that so many of the students in your class have an interest in biological science. You must have a very good teacher.

You say that you like writing poetry. Have you written anything since watching the film, Freedom Writers? If not, why don't you try it and share it with us.

  6. I also like to dance. And I like that you want to be a biologist. When you get older, where would you like to stay?

  8. Hi Hidecio,
I find it very interesting that you don't like being around violence, that something we both have in-common with one another. I enjoy going to the movies also. Here's a little advice from if you don't mind...Stay positive, stay in school and don't give up on what you believe in.

  9. Teacher Cathy,
    here you have my poem:
    Meus medos e eu...
    Hildécio Pereira da Silva
    Meus Medos...
é certo que eles me fazem ficar inseguro

    sou eu?
    Uma verdadeira mudança?
    Ou uma permanente monotonia?

    Indiscreto e sensual
    Especialmente marcante
    nem sei quem sou

    tenho medo de mim
    me surpreendo comigo
    mas sei que posso
    superar-me

    My fears and I ...

    Hildécio Pereira da Silva

    My Fears ...
it is true that they make me feel insecure
They can even make me do nothing
but it is also true that
    Due to the fear itself
I find enough courage to face it

Admittedly, I have no security I am not brave enough
    to be myself
    due to my fear

    If one day
I have to choose the best for me
in exchange for changing my way of being,
I will not change anything in me:
I will look for ways to reach the best

    Sometimes I stop to reflect
I can not find my true self
I can only find pieces of ties,
    of life,
    Races and stops inside me...

    Am I a real change?
    or a permanent monotony?

    Curious and sensual
    Especially striking
I do not know who I am

    I am afraid of me...
I got surprised with me, however.
    But I know
    I can overcome myself
